Yesterday was Thursday 29.11.2018.   The Diceman LP is scheduled to be shipped tomorrow 1st Dec.  Yesterday the shipment of 45’s KOTB0011 arrived.  I was at work at the time and they dropped the records off with my neighbour.  After returning from work after 10 pm I picked up the records and took them home.  Everything to this point is running to plan.  Today Friday 30 me and some friends would be packing this to ship out.  Playing the record to hear how it sounds was a total shock.  Its not my music.

Somebody at the plant has made an almighty fuck up and used the wrong stamper.  The stamper number engraved is different.    I work in manufacturing in auto motive industry we set up machines daily and go through the process that everything is checked before starting. It looks like in this case someone has not done their job and now left me in terrible position. For the first time ever I have broken even before the record is actually released.  I spent over a year and half dedicated working on this record.  This now going wrong can potentially finish this label. Money was borrowed on this project.

i have since been in touch with the brokers and today they will follow up on what’s gone wrong and will resolve this.  With the machines they are using this can be corrected in a days production 1 day vinyl cooling.  and express shipping.  Labels need to be printed.   This has been on my mind all night ive never known the wrong record to be pressed. the boxes are clearly marked up kotb 0011.  I can not apologise enough to all those that have supported this project including distributors in Europe and Japan who I’ve dropped in the shit.

I hope this will not cause too much problems and that you the customers can bare with me as I try to sort this out.

JUSTICE produced by Key Figures features scratches by Casual T & Key Figures from the group  M.S.I. & Assylm Casual T (Casz) has been a close friend for many years.  Long before King of the Beats was founded.  There was a website we ran called nuskratch which we founded in the dial up era.  We would go up and down the country filming DJs and Producers and post videos on that site.

In his own right Casz is a beast on the turntables far better than I could ever be.  This album being very special to me, it was only right to bring Casz in to share this experience.  I wanted him to be part of this.

All the cuts we used came from First Priority records paying dues to our extended family members paying tribute to KING OF CHILL and Maishah Hendrix who over the years have been supporting our cause.

This track is the first joint from the Jam Side of the Vinyl.  This is all about the art of MCing spitting bars and as DJ’s we had to match Dice.

Interesting fact about this song, the first time I heard it I was in my home Dice called me and played me the track featuring the sample of Jimi Hendrix talking.  Sat next to me in my home was the late Jimi Hendrix daughter. It was one of those moments I and Dice will never  forget.

This was the first video I shot whilst in NYC.  I can remember landing the Friday Evening and shooting this Saturday morning.  By the afternoon I had edited the video and had it ready to present.   If you are record collecter or true hip hop fan this is the one record if you miss you will be kicking your self.  Hip Hop at its best for 2018.

Back in 2009/2010 I met Tha 4orce who took part in the king of the beats event held at London’s Vibe Bar located in Brick Lane.  He soon joined the team, helping with the events. Off the back of the events I started the record label, pressing 45s from artists that came through the event and the king of the beats films.  For some years The 4orce had worked on a instrumental project titled Setting Standards for which he put out him self. 

He then went onto run the Mind tha Gap Radio Show which he featured nothing but new music from here and across the pond this lead him to return back to the project 4Orce wanted to make it a vocal version featuring UK artists that he was into and were of the moment.  This project was lead and funded by him self.  Any one that knows him will say that he is prolific worker, who is always on his grind, self motivated and very focused on his music. Through his network he was able to make use of the talent around him to create videos and execute his own plan.  Every month to release a digital single launched with a video ending the year with a Vinyl pressing of the lp.  Money earned from the digital releases goes towards the pressing of the limited edition UK Gem.

4Orce supported me and my projects since the time we started to work together and on this weekday visited me to help me shoot my piece for the Diggers Project.  I thought it would be good to shoot a piece about him breaking down his project and his aims.

From way back when, long before this thing was called Hip Hop back in the very early 70’s this thing called DJing took a turn that changed the way DJs play music forever.

It birthed the Turntablists, DJ’s who manipulated the soundscape and arrangements of the recorded piece changing the way we were meant to hear the music.  It became something else. Dj’s all over New York went crazy looking for sounds to manipulate, it birthed the Breakbeat DJs.  One of the greatest of all time is the man featured here Jazzy Jay.

From Bronx River Jazzy Jay like Charlie Chase, Grand Wizard Theodore and DXT was of a generation that went all out on this from not just buying and searching for records but becoming exceptional Skilled on the turntables.  Their tapes and performances have influenced millions of people across the globe.  Held in High regard I’ve seen it my self people still be asking him what was this track you played at this event or this track on this tape.

It’s these DJs that inspired the members of DITC to coin the term Diggin in the Crates.  I’ve known Jazzy for many years now and we have shot many videos together, he never fails to surprise me.  When you see me and Jazzy put something together you better believe it’s going to be special and honest.

Recently I got to tour along side Diamond D and Large Pro doing the 45s sets, these men them selves Diamond especially will tell you that we was all mentored by Jazzy.  Diamond you can see where he is at when he cuts 45s. the way he cuts them. Its not easy at all, but h makes it look easy as he came from a time and place where that is all it was and the only way to do it, it was competitive as almost every block had DJs that were all working/ practicing hard to make a name, to be hailed as one of the best.

I was in NYC for 4 nights to work with Large Pro and Main Source documenting the 25 year Anniversary of Breaking Atoms.  One of the greatest Records ever made across all genres of music.  I took one day off to be with Jazzy to see him and his family.  On the Friday joined by Large Pro and King of Chill we got into the spirit of creativity and few beers leading me onto persuade Jazzy to cut some 45s for me and let me shoot.  This was not rehearsed or prepared, but you can see here what we captured, a man who cutting up 45s is a walk in the park.
