Nottingham Album Launch for The 4Orce – Fac 1968

Following on from the London launch event, graciously hosted at Brixton’s Chip Shop, Tha 4Orce continued his run of album launch events in Nottingham at Fac 1968, an independent record store located in the heart of the city.

The event was organised by Imantis, who had also played at the London gathering and is a resident DJ at Fac 1968 alongside one of Nottingham’s finest DJ Fever.

Starting at 1pm and closing at 5 all of us managed to be there in good time.  4orce has a plan to set up events across the country to launch , celebrate and introduce this very special release.  Mind the Gap V2 ( double Vinyl) on BBE Records.

My role is to support and join him on this journey, capturing the event as well as playing music prior to the main eventers.

I really enjoy exploring music and sounds and for a good many years while playing at Hockley I have been in a position that I am playing music that I truly love and enjoy.  Records that I discovered on my journey digging for samples to create the hip hop music I go onto produce.

Playing these records through the eyes, hands and ears of one that practices hip hop culture.  I have found this works perfect in the record store setting.  As a student of the great Jazzy Jay we understand that Hip Hop is the Bastard child of all that comes from before.  It is through experience, a good sense of sound and some guts that I play the records I play.

This worked well with those passing through the shop who were intrigued by something that did not match what they perceived was going to happen.

I was followed by Both Mantis and Fever who together are playing on 4 decks together.  Fever I have know for a long time, going back into the later 90s.  I was introduced to him by Casz from M.S.I & Asylum who came down with me for the event.

Just as I mentioned before in posts sometimes being around someone can bring out the best in you, even pushing you be more.  Bunny & E Double D.  Fever is such a high standard DJ that he is bringing out the best in Mantis.  If they continue this I believe we a have a pair that could be much more, with big thing to come.

The event closed with a performance by Force with Mantis on the decks, also making a guest appearance was Madflow from Birmingham ( Check out his recent interview on the Kila Kela Podcast).  It was great to see how people engaged and 4orce in and amongst his rhymes acknowledges what is around him.  People really enjoyed and records were sold.

We would like to thank everyone that took part and supported the day. A huge thank you to everyone who attended, performed, supported, and helped make the day such a success. Special thanks to Rich, Kevin, Cristina, Madlow & Casz for all making the time to be there for the whole event.
