Mikey D & The L.A Posse Sweatshirt & T

We are incredibly close to seeing this record pressed and to celebrating together at our event in London.

Personally, I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has played a part in making this project a reality.

First and foremost, thank you to Mikey D for bringing this project to us and believing in the vision.

A special acknowledgment goes to The L.A. Posse and to one of the most influential producers, programmers and engineers ever involved in hip hop music, the late great Paul C. McKasty (R.I.P.). His legacy continues to inspire generations. We also want to recognise DJ Johnny Quest, whose cuts and scratches can be heard throughout the record, and Rahzel, who played a major role in the recording process.

A huge thank you must also go out to [Name], who sat in on the recording sessions and captured those priceless moments on tape.

Thank you to John and the team at Vinyl Presents, our pressing plant partners, for going above and beyond to help bring this release to life. Your support, patience and commitment have been invaluable. I also want to thank Kevin DeKosta for his continued support throughout this journey.

Much respect to Tha 4orce, who fully understands our vision and continues to play a huge role in helping us move it forward. We’re only just getting started, and you’ve helped set the standard.

A massive thank you goes to Mike at Chip Shop, who I first met through Finesse. Mike has generously allowed us to use his venue for what promises to be a very special album launch event on Saturday 28th November.

Shout out to DJ Casz and Deejay Random, long-time friends, collaborators and supporters who have backed so many of my projects over the years.

This event is completely free and is being made possible thanks to all of the people mentioned above. Nothing about this project happened overnight. It is the result of countless hours of hard work, dedication and a collective belief in the culture.

We’re also honoured to welcome Kool Kim of the UMC’s, who will be joining Mikey D on this trip. And for those attending, I have one very special surprise guest lined up who will be making an appearance on the night.

Events like this don’t come around very often. This is for the people who genuinely love hip hop music and culture. I sincerely appreciate everyone travelling in from outside London, booking trains and hotels to be part of this experience. If you’re from London and you’re truly about the culture, I’d like to think this is the place to be.

I’ll also be printing a limited run of event T-shirts and sweatshirts. Any purchases will help cover some of the expenses involved in bringing this project together, including travel, accommodation and event costs. If you’d like to support what we’re doing, please consider ordering a copy of the record or picking up a T-shirt.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this project so far. This is more than just a record release. It’s a celebration of hip hop, its culture, its history and the people who continue to keep it alive.

We’re just getting started. See you in London.

Nottingham Album Launch for The 4Orce – Fac 1968

Following on from the London launch event, graciously hosted at Brixton’s Chip Shop, Tha 4Orce continued his run of album launch events in Nottingham at Fac 1968, an independent record store located in the heart of the city.

The event was organised by Imantus, who had also played at the London gathering and is a resident DJ at Fac 1968 alongside one of Nottingham’s finest DJ Fever.

Starting at 1pm and closing at 5 all of us managed to be there in good time.  4orce has a plan to set up events across the country to launch , celebrate and introduce this very special release.  Mind the Gap V2 ( double Vinyl) on BBE Records.

My role is to support and join him on this journey, capturing the event as well as playing music prior to the main eventers.

I really enjoy exploring music and sounds and for a good many years while playing at Hockley I have been in a position that I am playing music that I truly love and enjoy.  Records that I discovered on my journey digging for samples to create the hip hop music I go onto produce.

Playing these records through the eyes, hands and ears of one that practices hip hop culture.  I have found this works perfect in the record store setting.  As a student of the great Jazzy Jay we understand that Hip Hop is the Bastard child of all that comes from before.  It is through experience, a good sense of sound and some guts that I play the records I play.

This worked well with those passing through the shop who were intrigued by something that did not match what they perceived was going to happen.

I was followed by Both Mantus and Fever who together are playing on 4 decks together.  Fever I have know for a long time, going back into the later 90s.  I was introduced to him by Casz from M.S.I & Asylum who came down with me for the event.

Just as I mentioned before in posts sometimes being around someone can bring out the best in you, even pushing you be more.  Bunny & E Double D.  Fever is such a high standard DJ that he is bringing out the best in Mantus.  If they continue this I believe we a have a pair that could be much more, with big thing to come.

The event closed with a performance by Force with Mantus on the decks, aso making a guest appearance was Madflow from Birmingham ( Check out his recent interview on the Kila Kela Podcast).  It was great to see how people engaged and 4orce in and amongst his rhymes acknowledges what is around him.  People really enjoyed and records were sold.

We would like to thank everyone that took part and supported the day. A huge thank you to everyone who attended, performed, supported, and helped make the day such a success. Special thanks to Rich, Kevin, Cristina, Madlow & Casz for all making the time to be there for the whole event.
